Ingredients:

  • 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 green chili peppers, slit lengthwise (adjust to your preferred level of spiciness)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to your preferred level of spiciness)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
    Instructions:
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and
sauté until it becomes translucent and golden brown.
  2. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chili peppers to the skillet. Sauté for
another minute until the aromas are released.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the tomato ketchup, soy sauce, chili sauce, curry powder,
turmeric powder, chili powder, sugar, and salt. Pour this mixture over the chicken in the
    skillet.
  5. Stir well to coat the chicken with the sauce and spices. Cook for another 5-7 minutes,
allowing the flavors to meld together and the chicken to cook through.
  6. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If you prefer a spicier flavor, you can add more
    chili powder or chili sauce.
  7. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves.
  8. Serve the Sri Lankan Chicken Deviled hot as an appetizer or main dish, accompanied by
    rice or bread.
